Summary: The Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) role at Barnet Council involves providing high-quality, trauma-informed support to victims of domestic abuse. Key Responsibilities:
- Assess need and risk, plan and deliver focused intervention to safeguard vulnerable adults, children, and families.
- Contribute to the setup and delivery of the Barnet Domestic Abuse Support Hub (BDASH).
- Manage a caseload within a framework of appropriate supervision.
- Provide high-quality, independent, and trauma-informed support to victims of domestic abuse.
- Advocate for victims' needs and support them through the criminal justice system and other relevant services.
- Develop Barnet's model of domestic abuse intervention in line with the Council's strategy.
Key Skills:
- Qualified Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) Level 3 Accredited.
- Qualification in supporting victims of domestic abuse.
- A minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience.

I am currently representing Barnet Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3- 6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience
We are looking for a Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) this role will be: NW9 4EW
The right candidate will:
- To assess need and risk, plan and deliver focused intervention to safeguard vulnerable adults, children and families and promote positive outcomes.
- To contribute to the set up and delivery of a highly effective Barnet Domestic Abuse Support Hub (BDASH) in an efficient manner, taking responsibility for working and managing a caseload within a framework of appropriate supervision, dependent upon the complexities of the case.
- To provide high-quality, independent, and trauma-informed support to victims of domestic abuse who are at risk of harm.
- The IDVA will work across statutory and community settings to ensure victims safety, advocate for their needs, and support them through the criminal justice system and other relevant services.
- This post is key to developing Barnets model of domestic abuse intervention in line with the Councils Domestic Abuse and Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy
We require the following:
- Qualified Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) Level 3 Accredited
- Qualification in supporting victims of domestic abuse
- A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience
