What We’re Looking For

Graduate Structural Engineer working within the Fixed Structures Team of Lloyd’s Registers, Global Technical Support Office. This role is based in Aberdeen, United Kingdom (UK). The Fixed Structures Team specialises in the design review of structural calculations and independent modelling of a diverse range of structures for offshore, subsea, nearshore and onshore infrastructure for both renewables and the oil and gas sector for compliance with regulatory requirements and international design standards. You will work with a global based team of structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, and a multidisciplinary team of design engineers in the Global Technical Support Office together with our field surveyors to assess and deliver pragmatic solutions to problems. As a graduate engineer you will have to play a key role working within the Fixed Structures Team, assessing the designs of a broad range of assets against a range of international design standards, rules and regulatory frameworks.

The role will include interfacing with a range of technical disciplines in the Global Technical Support Office to assist in providing pragmatic advice and solutions to both colleagues and clients.

To assist in carrying out structural assessments and review of design documentation against energy industries technical safety arrangements, codes and standards, regulations, client project requirements, within a defined scope that includes budget constraints and contractual requirements.

To produce a report / certificate / document to an agreed format and within an agreed timescale including data collection, analysis, and presentation. Create and maintain technical file systems. Maintain computer databases. Provide administrative assistance as required. Conduct occasional site visits at various client sites or production facilities as required to successfully complete projects. To actively pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.

What You Bring

A BEng or MEng degree in the field of structural/civil or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register. Sound knowledge of structural engineering design principles necessary for the design and analysis of steel or concrete structures. Knowledge and understanding of offshore structures would be considered an advantage. Some working experience in a related structural design field would be desirable. Competency with MS Office packages to efficiently manage data; create spreadsheets and produce reports. A knowledge of basic project management techniques is desirable. A practical, adaptable and well organised approach - and the ability to work to tight deadlines. Good written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to prepare technical reports.
