Summary: The role of Governor at the TEC Partnership involves attending corporation and committee meetings, engaging in strategic development, and participating in various events to support the educational community. Key Responsibilities:

The TEC Partnership is one of England’s largest providers of further and higher education and offers a range of pathways for our learners. This includes a nursery, 14-16 provision, A Levels, T Levels, Apprenticeships, vocational training, specialist commercial training, Bootcamps, Adult education, and Higher-Level degrees. About The Role
Corporation members attend corporation meetings (5 a year), and committee meetings (ranging from 1 to 5 a year per committee), as well as a strategic development day, training sessions and participating in governor engagement activities and attending events – such as graduation ceremonies, celebrations, shows and performances. Before each meeting, you will need to read several papers, so that you are informed and ready to discuss items and make decisions. Preparation is crucial to being an effective governor. The ability to listen and analyse information, and ask questions, are also key skills for governors to use and develop. The role of governor can be very rewarding, as members of the board can, and do make a real difference, for the students, staff, communities, and employers we represent. It is a challenging and interesting role, and you will learn new skills and experience, working with other board members and members of staff. You will receive support from the Director of Governance and Chair of the Corporation.
About The Person
Expressions of interest are welcomed from talented and experienced individuals, who have the time and energy to commit to the governor role. The group are inclusive in their approach and their intention is to have a broad range of expertise and backgrounds on the board, sharing knowledge, experience, and advice, whilst also offering diversity of thought and opinions. Applications are welcomed from all interested individuals, over 18 years old. There would be particular interest in encouraging applications from individuals who have experience in Legal Finance Human Resources IT Local strategic leadership Community Partnerships SEND These are the areas identified in our most recent audit of skills of board members. To maintain the composition of the board, which reflects the local community we represent, we would also encourage applications from those from minority ethnic backgrounds. Whilst previous knowledge of governance is welcomed, training and support will be provided to you, and this is not a prerequisite for the role. Current board members have experience in local and national businesses, in Education (Schools, FE and HE), in the public sector, in legal services and finance.
