Summary: The role of Interim Financial Controller involves leading statutory reporting and managing audits for an international consumer brand based in South West London. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead statutory reporting across all entities, including audits for UK and overseas subsidiaries.
- Act as the main point of contact for external auditors and tax advisers, managing all queries and ensuring timely completion.
- Own all balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and robust evidence for key risk areas.
- Support Finance Business Partners with oversight, challenge, and consistency of reconciliations.
- Manage tax compliance across all entities including corporation tax, VAT, PAYE, and international filings.
- Work with external advisers to identify tax planning opportunities and oversee initiatives such as R&D claims.
- Oversee overhead and capex reporting, ensuring spend discipline and alignment to budgets.
- Prepare and review statutory accounts and supporting schedules under UK GAAP or IFRS.
- Develop and lead the finance team, driving continual improvement in reporting and compliance.
- Support the Group Financial Controller on group structure, intercompany processes, and cross-border reporting requirements.
Key Skills:
- A recognised accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA/ACCA/CA).
- Strong technical experience in statutory reporting, audit management, and financial control.
- Experience working with multiple entities or international subsidiaries.
- A clear understanding of UK tax compliance; exposure to tax planning initiatives is beneficial.
- Proven leadership capability within a finance team.
- A track record of improving controls, reporting quality, and governance.
