Summary: A leading international communications and technology group is seeking a senior legal professional for a 6-month fixed-term contract as Director of Commercial Counsel. The role involves providing strategic legal leadership across various commercial, procurement, outsourcing, and technology matters while collaborating with internal teams. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic legal leadership across commercial, procurement, outsourcing, and technology matters.
  • Act as a key business partner to internal procurement and tech teams.
  • Support procurement for service delivery platforms, including hardware and technology contracts.
  • Negotiate and draft commercial contracts and service agreements related to joint ventures.
  • Handle intellectual property and data privacy matters with support from a dedicated privacy lawyer.
  • Manage M&A and technology-related legal projects.
  • Oversee dispute resolution and external counsel management.
  • Ensure regulatory and competition compliance in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Develop legal policies and improve processes across the group.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified lawyer with significant post-qualification experience (10+ years' PQE).
  • Strong experience in commercial law, technology, telecoms, IP, privacy, and outsourcing.
  • Familiarity with OEM providers.
  • Exposure to M&A transactions and corporate legal matters.
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Your new company A leading international communications and technology group is seeking a senior legal professional to join on a 6-month fixed-term contract. A start date of December is preferred, but a mid-January start is also considered. The business operates across multiple markets and is undergoing significant transformation, with a strong focus on technology, procurement, and commercial innovation. This role sits within a collaborative legal team supporting a wide range of work.

Your new role Reporting to the Managing Director of the Commercial Legal team, you will provide strategic legal leadership across a wide range of commercial, procurement, outsourcing, and technology matters. You will act as a key business partner to internal procurement and tech teams, supporting:

  • Procurement for service delivery platforms, including hardware and technology contracts
  • Service agreements relating to joint ventures
  • Commercial contract negotiation and drafting
  • Intellectual property and data privacy matters (with support from a dedicated privacy lawyer)
  • M&A and technology-related legal projects
  • Dispute resolution and external counsel management
  • Regulatory and competition compliance in collaboration with internal teams
  • Legal policy development and process improvement across the group

This is a senior leadership role offering exposure to complex, cross-border transactions and strategic decision-making.

What you'll need to succeed You'll be a qualified lawyer with significant post-qualification experience (10+ years' PQE as a guideline). You'll bring:

  • Strong experience in commercial law, technology, telecoms, IP, privacy, and outsourcing, with a track record of adding value to organisations
  • Familiarity with OEM providers
  • Exposure to M&A transactions and corporate legal matters
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills, including working with senior executives
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
  • A proactive, pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to work independently, attempting to solve problems before turning to help
