We pride ourselves on being an organisation of people who genuinely care about helping others.About the team you ll be part ofOfcom s Economics and Analytics Group is a dynamic, international team of over 100 economists, data analysts and finance experts.The purpose of the role and key responsibilitiesWe are seeking a data scientist with experience in PowerBI to support us in building an internal data product. You will collaborate with a vibrant team of economists, data engineers, data analysts, policy professionals and market researchers. Your responsibilities will include:Developing a dashboard in PowerBI to visualise the results of data analysis and models.Collaborating with data engineers and economists to support model development and deployment.Reviewing existing ETL code.Producing high-quality documentation.Communicating technical concepts effectively in internal meetings.Building scheduled data pipelines to ingest data from various third-party APIs.The skills, knowledge, and experience you ll need for successStrong proficiency in PowerBI, including data modelling, DAX, and visualisation best practices.Strong proficiency with PySpark, PythonExperience with SQL and database management.Proven experience in data manipulation, including designing and implementing ETL processes.Familiarity with Azure services.Proven experience of producing high quality documentation.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.The ability to collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams.A degree in computer science, data science, or a related field, with a postgraduate qualification being desirable but not essential.Experience with network analysis desirable, but not essential.At Ofcom we prioritise inclusive and diverse recruitment in order to truly reflect the society we represent.Where positions are listed as full time, we remain open to reduced hours, part-time arrangements, job shares and other flexible working options from day one of employment.
