Summary: The role of Privacy Counsel is a 12-month fixed-term contract focused on providing expert legal support regarding data protection and privacy matters. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist legal advice on data protection and privacy laws (UK GDPR, DPA 2018, PECR, etc.)
- Draft, review, and negotiate data processing agreements and other privacy-related contracts
- Support implementation of privacy policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
- Monitor regulatory developments and advise internal stakeholders on required actions
- Conduct privacy impact assessments and risk evaluations for new projects
- Deliver training and awareness sessions on data protection best practice
- Manage and respond to data subject access requests and regulatory correspondence
- Support cross-functional teams in handling data breaches and related incidents
Key Skills:
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with a current practising certificate
- Strong experience in privacy and data protection law, gained in a top or mid-tier law firm or in-house legal team
- Confident working autonomously with cross-functional teams
- Practical, solutions-focused approach and excellent communication skills
