Summary: The Data Modeller role involves creating a distinct layer in the data flow to enhance the usage of existing data capabilities built on Databricks and PowerBI.   • Interpret data designs, schemas, and engineering documentation.

Key Skills:

  • Significant experience in data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical).
  • Experience with Kimball, Data Vault, and enterprise data modelling techniques.
  • Familiarity with Azure data ecosystem, Databricks, and modern data platforms.
  • Strong communication skills for simplifying complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficient in modelling tools (e.g., Erwin, PowerDesigner, Lucidchart).
  • High attention to detail and analytical rigour.

Role Description:

Client has created a foundational data capability using Databrick and PowerBI which is being utilised for both report and operational use cases. We now need to create distinct layer in the data flow that allow us to extend the usage of this assess and decouple changes from the source and target. To support this process we need a Data Modeller with the following skills and experience:

Knowledge & Experience
Significant experience in data modelling, including conceptual, logical, and physical models.
Experience with Kimball, Data Vault, canonical modelling, and enterprise data modelling techniques.
Strong background in requirements gathering across complex technical and business environments.
Familiarity with Azure data ecosystem, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and modern data platforms.
Understanding of metadata management, cataloguing, lineage, and access governance.
Experience supporting multiple squads or projects simultaneously with structured modelling and requirements practices.
Knowledge of regulatory expectations such as GDPR, retention, and data governance controls.
Ability to interpret data designs, schemas, and engineering documentation

Skills
Skilled in translating business needs into precise, structured, and well documented requirements.
Strong communication skills - able to simplify complex concepts for non technical stakeholders.
Proficient in modelling tools (eg, Erwin, PowerDesigner, Lucidchart, Synapse/Fabric modelling tools).
High attention to detail, analytical rigour, and structured problem solving.
Comfortable challenging assumptions and guiding stakeholders to well designed solutions.
Able to influence without authority and drive alignment across technical and business teams.
