Exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer to join this World Leading Energy company.

A team within Energy Trading are looking for an AWS Data Engineer to work on support of a migration and decommissioning project.


The project is looking to migrate data from several applications hosted in an AWS data platform environment. This will require extraction and archival of a lot of historical data, the data will need to be stored in either a SharePoint solution or an Azure cloud based solution. The migrated data will need to be accessible by users and will need to be secure with a number of data privacy and security controls implemented to ensure access to the data is controlled and secure. As part of the migration of the data, some of the data my need to be transformed to suit requirements. Following the migration the legacy AWS based platform will need to be decommissioned. Prior to the full decommissioning, there will be requirements to ensure the current AWS platform can continue to be maintained.


Skillset required:
AWS platform experience (RDS, S3)
Azure cloud experience (Azure Blobs, Containers)
Experience of working with relational and nosql databases
Data integration and ingestion experience
Data migration experience
Experience of working with SharePoint based storage solutions
ETL experience
Desirable but not essential Experience of working with Power / Energy data sets (meter data, asset data)


This will require an experienced data engineer who can get going very quickly. Someone who can bring solutions to the table, working closely with a small team of a solutions architect and a business analyst, but the data engineer will be expected to drive forward the technical implementation.


This needs combining with a positive attitude and an ability to work within a large, globally dispersed project team in a multi-cultural environment. You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
