Summary: The Cloud FinOps Engineer will be responsible for leading financial accountability and cost optimization in a large-scale cloud environment, focusing on Azure and multi-cloud solutions. This role serves as a technical bridge between Engineering, Finance, and Business teams to ensure effective cloud spending. The position requires a proactive individual with strong technical and financial skills to drive accountability and implement cost-saving measures. The role is offered on a contract basis with a competitive day rate and flexible working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and enforce robust tagging and categorization strategies across Azure subscriptions.
- Build and manage Real Time cost visibility dashboards and reports.
- Collaborate with Finance on forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Implement automated anomaly detection and alerting for unexpected spend.
- Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities through right-sizing and cleanup.
- Manage Azure Reservations, Savings Plans, and Spot Instances to reduce rates.
- Develop and enforce policy-as-code for cost governance.
- Automate remediation and configuration using Infrastructure-as-Code and scripting.
- Partner with engineering teams to balance cost, speed, and performance.
- Lead enablement sessions to build a cost-conscious culture.
Key Skills:
- 3+ years in FinOps, Cloud Cost Management, or Optimization roles.
- 5+ years in Cloud Engineering (Azure essential; AWS/GCP a plus).
- Strong understanding of cloud billing models and cost allocation.
- Data analysis and visualization skills for cloud spend analytics.
- Financial literacy in budgeting and forecasting.
- Advanced Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell).
- Azure certifications (AZ-400, AZ-305) preferred.
