Summary: The role of the Commodities Trading Business Analyst involves working on the Front Office trading desk within a Commodities & Energy Trading House undergoing a technology transformation. The position requires expertise in the energy trading lifecycle and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance the internal digital algo-trading function. The analyst will engage directly with users to identify needs, create documentation, and perform hands-on system analysis. This role is hybrid, requiring two days in the office, and offers a competitive daily rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working with users to identify their needs.
- Creating worked examples, mock-ups, test cases, or similar to help users understand their requirements and potential solution options.
- Performing hands-on system or data analysis to identify changes (e.g., to usage, to configuration, or to class-event).
Key Skills:
- 4-5 years experience as an IT Business Analyst focused on Front Office Commodity Trading.
- Commodities Trading experience (preferably including physical LNG, Gas, Power, or other Physicals).
- Extensive experience working with Front Office Traders/functions.
- Front/middle office knowledge; pricing and valuation (P&L, risk exposure, etc.).

Business Analyst | Energy Trading | Front Office | Physical Commodities | Up to £650/Day Outside IR35 | Hybrid 2 Days | LDN Commodities & Energy Trading House are going through a technology landscape transformation particularly within their Algorithmic Trading function . As such, this Commodities Trading Business Analyst will sit on Front Office trading desk, meaning prior exposure to the end-to-end energy trading lifecycle is highly advantageous. Other physical commodities/asset classes will also be considered for this role. The work will be focussed on expanding the commodities & energy trading house’s current internal/in-house digital algo-trading function and offering, to their external clients/third parties. As such, the role requires you to work with users from across the business and cover functionality across the end-to-end trade lifecycle for physical LNG, Gas and Power , as well as commodity derivatives and FX/IR; strong stakeholder management will be required. Business knowledge around the Trading lifecycle is critical for this role, ideally within Energy. As a Commodities Trading Business Analyst, you will work with both front office and middle office users, with direct desk access on the trading floor, gaining exposure across end-to-end trade lifecycle for physical commodities. As a Commodities Trading Business Analyst, you will be required to perform extensive hands-on work, understanding the Physical Commodities lifecycle and the data needed from both front and middle office, in order to develop extensive system and app knowledge of the different trades. As a Commodities Trading Business Analyst, you will be required to be proactive in engaging with users and working with them in a collaborative and open manner.
