Summary: The Azure Backend Developer role focuses on designing, building, and deploying intelligent cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure, with a strong emphasis on backend engineering and AI integration. Candidates must have experience with Fabric and C#, and be available on-site in South London for two days a week. The position offers a competitive daily rate and is classified as outside IR35. This is a 6-month contract opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop scalable APIs, microservices, and integration layers across Azure.
  • Build and embed AI solutions using Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services, and Agentic AI frameworks.
  • Design and orchestrate data pipelines with Azure Data Services and Fabric.
  • Implement secure authentication, RBAC, and secrets management via Entra ID and Key Vault.
  • Automate CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Monitor and govern environments with Application Insights, Defender for Cloud, and Azure Monitor.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready, AI-enhanced solutions.

Key Skills:

  • Experience with C#, .NET Core, Node.js, Python, JavaScript, React, Angular.
  • Familiarity with Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services, Azure ML, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Data Factory.
  • Knowledge of Azure App Services, Functions, AKS, Logic Apps, APIM, Event Grid, Service Bus.
  • Bonus skills: Terraform/Bicep, Docker, Kubernetes, ML/DL (TensorFlow, PyTorch), Agile delivery, and stakeholder engagement.
