Summary: The Avionics Systems Engineer will be integral to the Future Long Range Aircraft Program, focusing on the development of system architecture and requirements for advanced military aircraft. This role involves utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools to create models and specifications, ensuring the integration of cutting-edge avionics hardware and software. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and managing various engineering activities to meet project milestones. This is a 12-month contract position based in Fort Worth, TX, with a competitive hourly rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop system and software architecture models utilizing MBSE tools (such as MagicDraw/Cameo, SysML)
- Define and decompose high-level system and software requirements
- Translate stakeholder needs into functional and technical specifications
- Perform requirements validation, verification, and traceability
- Support system integration, troubleshooting, and technical issue resolution
- Develop and execute test cases for system verification
- Coordinate engineering activities with cross-functional teams and suppliers
- Manage problem reports, change requests, and system updates through closure
- Contribute to certification, safety, and cybersecurity initiatives
- Support the execution of program milestones and timely delivery of project objectives

As part of the Avionics Integrated Product Team, you'll play a key role in developing the system architecture, requirements, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models for the integration of cutting-edge avionics hardware and software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop system and software architecture models utilizing MBSE tools (such as MagicDraw/Cameo, SysML)
- Define and decompose high-level system and software requirements
- Translate stakeholder needs into functional and technical specifications

- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Software, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience (10+ years preferred) in systems, avionics, or software engineering
- Expertise in requirements development & decomposition, system integration, and verification in embedded or avionics environments
- Proficiency with MBSE tools (e.g., MagicDraw/Cameo, Rhapsody, EA Sparx)
- Experience with configuration management tools (such as Git, SVN, ClearCase)
- Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and senior leadership
- Familiarity with DO-178, DO-297, and/or DO-331 standards
- Experience with ARINC 653 partitioned operating systems
- Background in software certification, system safety, or cybersecurity for airborne systems
